Dr Genevieve Small takes up role as new Chair of NHS Harrow CCG

Dr Genevieve Small has taken up the key role of Chair of NHS Harrow CCG from Dr Amol Kelshiker, who has been Chair since the inception of the CCG in 2013. The CCG is responsible for planning and buying many of the health services used by people who are registered with GPs in the borough.
Dr Small was brought up in Harrow and has been a Partner at the Ridgeway Surgery since 2001. She has worked as the Named GP for Safeguarding Children in Harrow since 2005 and was a Clinical Director in Harrow CCG since its inception. She is passionate about strong community healthcare and helping the people of Harrow to access quality health services that are responsive to their day to day needs.
Along with Dr Small’s appointment, Dr Muhammad Shahzad has been elected as Vice Chair of NHS Harrow CCG. Dr Shahzad is a GP at Zain Medical Centre and a resident of the borough. His special interests include musculoskeletal medicine, care of the elderly, urgent care as well as diabetes and endocrinology.
Dr Small and Dr Shahzad took up the new positions on 19 September 2018. The CCG would like to thank Dr Kelshiker for his longstanding hard work and dedication in improving health and care services within the borough.

Dr Genevieve Small commented:
“I want to ensure that our local NHS services are fit for the future and continue to deliver the best possible care for our residents.
There will always be challenges ahead, but I am confident that through collaborative working with our partners we can achieve the excellence in health care and reduction in health inequalities that we all strive for.
It has been a privilege to work with Dr Amol Kelshiker, who has been fantastic in his leadership of Harrow CCG and I wish him all the best in the future.”
