Governing Body

The Governing Body has responsibility for ensuring that the Clinical Commissioning Group has appropriate arrangements in place to exercise its functions effectively, efficiently and economically.

Its members include lay member and representation from GP practices, including GPs and other colleagues, and senior colleagues in the CCG.

Dr Genevieve Small, Chair

Genevieve.jpgGenevieve was brought up in Harrow and has been a Partner at the Ridgeway Surgery since 2001. She has worked as the Named GP for Safeguarding Children in Harrow since 2005 and was a Clinical Director in Harrow CCG since its inception. She is passionate about strong community healthcare and helping the people of Harrow to access quality health services that are responsive to their day to day needs.

 

 

 

Dr Muhammad Shahzad, Vice Chair

Muhammad.jpgDr Muhammad Shahzad is a GP in Harrow at Zain Medical Centre and a resident of the borough. His special interests include musculoskeletal medicine, care of the elderly, urgent care as well as diabetes and endocrinology. Dr Shahzad is a GP trainer, a tutor for Kings College and Imperial College London and an examiner for the Royal College of General Practitioners.

 

 

 

Dr Radhika Balu, Clinical Director

Radhika.jpgDr Radhika Balu completed her postgraduate training in Yorkshire and London, and has worked as a GP partner, GP trainer and locum in Harrow. She is committed to improving health outcomes for residents in the borough, and values creativity and innovation in delivering local healthcare.

 

 

 

Dr Himagauri Kelshiker, Clinical Director

Himagauri.jpgHimagauri is a GP at Bacon Lane Surgery and is a GP Trainer and Appraiser. She has spent all of her GP career in Harrow having trained locally at Northwick Park Hospital. Her interests are in diabetes, dermatology and women’s health. Himagauri believes that working towards preventing long term conditions will go a long way to ensure the sustainability of the NHS in the future.

 

 

Dr Ali Dhankot, Clinical Director

Ali.jpgDr Ali Dhankot is a sessional GP with a special interest in musculoskeletal medicine and medical education. He is a Harrow resident and has worked in the borough since 2010.  As well as his clinical practice, he is a tutor for Imperial College medical students and an appraiser for GPs in North West London.

 

 

 

Dr Laurence Hommel, Clinical Director

Laurence.pngLaurence trained in Manchester and London and has practised as a Harrow GP since 1994. He has also been a GP Trainer. His specialist interest is in Dermatology, working as a GP with special interest in Harrow’s Community Dermatology Service. He brings his many years of experience to the Governing Body and is committed to the delivery of excellent clinical care for our patients.

 

 

Richard Smith, Lay Member and Deputy Chair

Richard.jpgRichard has spent his career helping organisations to get the best from the people who work for them – and people to give their best to their organisations. Specialising in leadership development, managing change, and the effectiveness of senior teams, he held senior posts in retail, manufacturing, IT and banking industries.  Richard now leads an international consulting practice, and is an author on change management. He has been a Harrow resident for over 30 years.

 

 

Hiten Shah, Lay Member

Hiten.jpgHiten is committed to equalities, diversity and social justice issues in both his personal and professional life. He has worked in a variety of organisations including the Home Office and established his own consultancy, advising clients across different sectors to empower them to deliver quality services and equality for staff and diverse communities. He has written or co-written a number of publications and reports for practitioner use. He is a family man and has been resident in Harrow for nearly twenty years.

 

 

Alex Johnstone, Lay Member for Audit and Governance

Alex%20Johnstone.jpgAlex is a Non-Executive Director with significant experience as a the Chair of Audit, Finance and Risk Board sub-committees. He has held five previous Board positions in the health sector since 2011.

He is currently the Chair of Audit for Brent, Harrow and Hillingdon CCGs. His other most recent board appointments were with Eastern Melbourne Primary Healthcare Network and Dental Health Services Victoria, Australia.

For ten years Alex worked as an NHS Chief Financial Officer here in London. At The University of Melbourne he held two senior roles: Executive Director of Strategic Development and IT Programme Director. His most recent Executive role was as the Chief Executive Officer and Company Secretary of IPC Health - a large community health provider organisation in Melbourne.

Alex is a Qualified Accountant (FCPFA and FCPA), a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) and has studied Strategic Leadership at Harvard and Oxford. His portfolio includes Chair of Alliance Leadership Group, Chair Partnership Forum and membership of NKR Board and Integrated Care Board. 

Dr Sandy Gupta, Secondary Care Doctor

Sandy.jpgSandy is the Consultant Cardiologist at Whipps Cross and St Bartholomew’s Hospitals since 1999. He has a keen interest in research concerning inflammation and heart disease and was awarded a British Heart Foundation (BHF) research fellowship.

Javina Sehgal, Managing Director

Javina.pngJavina is the managing director for NHS Harrow CCG and has led the organisation since its inception in April 2013. Prior to this she was the borough director for NHS Harrow PCT.

In January 2017, Javina was seconded to the Greater London Authority as Programme Director working for the Mayor of London on behalf of the London Health and Care partnership to establish Thrive LDN. This was a collaboration with stakeholders across London, and Londoners themselves, to address mental health inequity and disproportionality. Javina also led the Good Thinking programme, a prevention and early intervention digital service, to improve the mental health and wellbeing of people in London and reduce the burden on services.

Before joining the NHS, Javina had senior roles in the social services departments of Brent and Hammersmith & Fulham councils.

Jenny Greenshields, Chief Finance Officer

 

 

Diane Jones, Chief Nurse/Director of Quality

diane-jones.jpgDiane has worked in the NHS for over 25 years and is a Registered Nurse & Midwife. She initially joined Brent, Harrow and Hillingdon CCGs in March 2017 as the Director of Quality and Safety. More recently in July 2018, Diane is now the Chief Nurse and Director of Quality for all eight North West London (NWL) CCGs. Diane has significant leadership experience, having worked at senior management level for the past 12 years. Prior to her role in NWL, Diane has worked with NHS Greenwich CCG as the Director of Integrated Governance as well as Deputy Nurse Director with NHS Redbridge CCG before that.

Diane is a member of the London Clinical Senate and continues to practice as a Midwife.
